Will Daddy Handwash the Diapers?
It is now day 3 of the Flats and Handwashing Challenge and I am happy to report that we are going strong! OK maybe not “strong” but we are going!
I have fallen behind a bit on the “wash as you go” method for handwashing the diapers. It isn’t easy to just drop everything and wash a diaper after it has been soiled. Between the Toddler and the Newborn, there is always something that needs to be tended to. The Toddler stopped taking naps at about 18 month, which I realized today, coincides with the time she weaned from breastfeeding! This really doesn’t give me an opening to do much of anything.
I usually put the diaper in the bathroom sink to be cleaned at my earliest convenience. Then the next time I change a diaper I realize I didn’t do it and add another to the sink because I need to do something else. I had 4 diapers in the sink today and added 2 flour sack towels to it… I was able to get in there and clean 3 of them! Now the baby is napping and I have a list of things to do! As soon as I finish this post I will get the other 3! Promise!
Back to the topic. I have to work tonight so Daddy will be changing diapers… He doesn’t know how to fold a diaper, and he certainly wont be washing any. I am prepared for the diapers to be here when I get home. I have pre-folded the flats using the origami fold and stacked them on the diaper shelf. I am planning on showing him everything and hope that he follows through for me. I will be stuffing some pockets with flats, just in case. He has been straightforward about how crazy he thinks I am for doing this so lets see if my 3 days of not complaining about the washing or having any leaks with the flats has convinced him that it wouldn’t entirely suck for him to use a snappi!
I want to take a moment to thank Dirty Diaper Laundry for hosting this challenge! Tomorrows topic will be: “Thoughts on Handwashing- How am I doing?” I will go into more detail on my thoughts and more specific about “how” I’m doing and also whether Daddy used the flats while I was at work tonight. Come back tomorrow to find out!
