{Sponsor Spotlight} One Creative Mama in the Mother Knows Breast Giveaway

April 25, 2013

Time for another sponsor spotlight! This time we are highlighting a line of breastfeeding advocacy clothes for babies/toddlers!

nursing button-001

One Creative Mama makes shirts, onsies and rompers for little ones promoting breastfeeding!

One thing moms need is support! Not only for breastfeeding but for parenting in general. I recommend finding a circle of friends who are parents. You can find them anywhere! Wearing advocacy apparel yourself may be a little intimidating so why not have your little cutie say it for you? This is a great way to spark a conversation with like-minded moms. I also think that a pregnant woman gushing over your little one would feel encouraged to breastfeed by seeing that other moms are showing support!

One Creative Mama is starting a trend of not being afraid or embarrassed to show support for the most natural thing in the world!

One Creative Mama was founded by a mom who wanted to help normalize breastfeeding.  Her name was Sarah Pruis.  Sarah is a mom, doula and childbirth educator and her path has taken her down a road of helping moms one-on-one instead of making products.  She stopped making the One Creative Mama baby shirts about 2-3 years ago, so last year Judy Masucci decided that she wanted to bring them back.  She purchased the company from her, gave the shirts an over-haul and started making great new designs to help moms and babies express their love for breastfeeding and to help the world to think of breastfeeding as the “normal” thing that all moms and babies do.  It’s so normal – it’s on a shirt!  Celebrating this special time in babies life with a cute, whimsical tee makes it fun and helps to make it normal too.

Judy Masucci is a mom, breastfeeding advocate and entrepreneur.  She has one son, 4 businesses and loves to help new moms.

I received the “I love Mama’s Milk” Romper to review for you all. I love rompers because they are easy to put on, I don’t have to find a matching set and they just look adorable! It was difficult to decide on which design we wanted to review! There are 5 cute designs to choose from.

One Creative Mama breastfeeding advocacy apparel is also carried at A Mother’s Boutique and Amazon in sizes 6m 12m and 18m.

Our Experience

The romper arrived packaged very nicely in a ziptop bag and was professionally tagged just as you would find in a retail store! The smallest size available is 6 months. Currently Gavin is 3 months old. He was 12 lbs at his 2 month appointment so I would estimate his weight at about 13 lbs. I have to say that he is pretty much skipping the 3 month sized clothes. He has a bit of room to grow width-wise in this romper but his fluffy, cloth diapered bottom has affected the fit in the length department. I would say the sizing is between accurate and snug. Since babies grow so fast you may consider purchasing a size larger.

The fabric is soft and great quality! I also love that there are no snaps at the neck. The fabric is stretchy enough that it fits over his head nicely. The printing is also very high quality. There is no peeling or cracking after MANY washes (this kid spits up like no other) and cycles through the dryer! The label information is printed on the inside of the back so there is no tag to irritate babies skin.

If you are a breastfeeder, or plan to be, I highly recommend putting your baby in one of these! This would be a great conversation starter if you are looking to connect with other moms!!

I’ve always been pronursing wither in public or private. I think more people wouldnt mind nursing if the nursing mothers didn’t show off all the “goodies” during the process. By wearing nursing clothes, or cover ups I feel like everyone can get the best of what they need (privacy for the mom, breast milk for the baby, and the public doesnt feel akward by having to “see” things they didnt want/inteaded to see.

I love these shirts. My baby is fairly chubby and people often ask me if that’s all from breastmilk (and it is). I wonder if a shirt proclaiming this would get me more or less questions.
