It’s National Boys & Girls Club Week!
A few years ago I was given the opportunity to work full time at my job. At the time The Teen was 8, she was an only child, I was bored and we needed the money. The problem was that I would have to put her in child care. The cost of child care was so much that I might as well have stayed part time. That is when we discovered the Boy & Girls Club of America.
We took a tour of the facility and loved what we saw! She was very excited to be able to spend time with other children outside of school. I was excited because they offered homework time and help, she would be in a safe environment and the cost was VERY affordable. We paid a one time annual fee which I THINK** was around $20, then on the days she attended she brought a dollar with her. The kicker for me was that they would bring her straight there from school! (Not all of these are available in all locations). Without the Boy and Girls Club of America she would have either been home alone or I would have not worked enough to get the bills paid!
I know there are a lot of families that can’t afford child care and I highly recommend them for this reason but there are so many other great things offered! Kids learn skills and develop socially as well! There are opportunities for your child to give back to the community and many of the helpers who worked with my child were once members as children!
Since April 2-13 is National Boys and Girls Club Week I invite you to open the door and take the tour! For this week the Boys & Girls Club is opening their doors to you! Locations near you are holding celebrations that you can attend for free to find out more! Some events include carnival and health fairs! If you still don’t feel comfortable visiting a location near you, you can take the virtual tour HERE!
If you would like to help support these amazing programs, there are different ways to help. Find out how HERE!
I hope you learned something new from reading this! Have you or your family been touched by the Boys & Girls Club? Please let me know how!
I wrote this review while participating in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
