Crazy Hair Day: Cupcakes and Spirals Tutorial
Today was Crazy Hair Day as part of Spirit Week at the Teen’s school. After scouring the web and collecting some crazy hair ideas on pinterest for her to choose from (not all of the pins were doable but I thought they were cool) Amber liked the cupcakes so we went with it! Here is what we did (apologies for the cell pics, it was early):
Start by cutting and X in the bottom of your cupcake liners
Create how ever many pony tails you wish, wherever you wish.
Pull your pony tail through the bottom of the cupcake liner so that the bottom is against the head. Make a bun as you normally would. Be careful not to disturb the liner too much. Secure with another rubber band. I didn’t take a photo of this step but you can see it in the finished photos.
You can stop here and just have cupcakes! Amber wanted to do something with her bangs. I busted out the chenille stems/pipe cleaners. We made spirals, this is how:
First we decided 2 of them was a good number and made tiny pony tails. I wrapped the pip cleaner around my finger making a spring. To put it on the hair I scrunched down the spring and stuck it through. Holding the tips of the hair, pull out your spring into a spiral. Secure the hair to the top of it with a small clip. At the base of the pony tail stick the end of the pipe cleaner under the rubber band.
We also made cherries out of pipe cleaners and attached to the bun with a bobby pin.
The final result:
