Blissful Bump Sponsor Spotlight Review: Birthing Gown

November 8, 2012

To get ready for our D-Day (Delivery Day) package we are going to share this amazing sponsor who is generously providing a prize for the Blissful Bump Giveaway Bash! This spotlight review is to share our experience with Birthing Gown!

At BG&Co., we see pregnant women for what they really are: beautiful, healthy and in the midst of the most amazing experience of their lives! During this memorable time, women should be wearing something memorable as well.

The Birthing Gown came to life in August of 2009, when creator Cindy Lintel was asked by a woman in her birthing center if she had to wear “that!” She was referring to the old familiar Johnny coat. The woman was pleased to hear Ms. Lintel say that she could wear anything! And with that, the Birthing Gown was conceived!

I never really thought that there was any other option for what to wear to your delivery. In preparing for this event I came across several different options! The one I loved most was BG & Co. This Birthing Gown is the most versatile of them! A lot of them were nice prints on the same style of hospital gown! The thing that has drawn me to the Birthing Gown was the fact that it looked like a dress! The photos showed women who FELT beautiful! I knew I just had to contact them for this event and I was extremely excited when they agreed to join us!

When I received the package I was in a hurry to pick up the “teen” from school but I HAD to open it right away! I sat in my car and feverishly opened the package! Inside I found not only the softest material in a beautiful milk chocolate color but also a hand written note from the creator of the Birthing Gown! You have to love those personal touches. I can’t say for sure that every order gets a personal note but as a blog reviewer you know when a company takes the time for something like that, it means they really care about their product and aren’t just in it for links. I ooed and awed over the texture of the fabric without unfolding it and hurried to school so I could get back home and take it out!

Aside from the softness and luxuriousness of the fabric, I also noticed that it was quite stretchy! I put in on over my clothes just to test the fit and fell in love! I wore it to bed that night, just to test out the comfort level, of course. After wearing the Birthing Gown as pajamas I am very excited to wear them at the delivery and as pajamas after delivery to make it easy to nurse.

How it works:

The Birthing Gown goes on just like a regular hospital gown and has openings at the shoulder. There are no functionality differences. You put your arms through the holes with the opening in the back. There are great differences though.

  • The first, and most obvious, difference is the design. It looks like a dress!
  • The shoulders of a regular gown have about 4 snaps which, if you are breastfeeding can be difficult to snap them and unsnap them while holding your new baby. The Birthing Gown has a very soft velcro closure, easily usable with only one hand.
  • The back wraps around your body keeping your modesty intact. However, is easily opened from the front for access to the back for pain management, massage etc. This is how: One side goes under the other and the sash goes through a hole in the side. The other tie wraps around the outside and they tie together in the front. The tie is at an empire waist level allowing for monitor belts underneath the dress.

The Birthing Gown is one of my favorite finds in this event! I highly recommend this as a great gift for a baby shower, or for any moms who wants to be comfortable and feel beautiful even at the most laborious time!

Great idea and looks a lot better than the hospital gowns.
