Preparing for Baby Giveaway! Car Seat Prep with The Laundry Tarts
We are preparing for baby! Our fabulous sponsor for this post and giveaway is The Laundry Tarts!

We are nesting big time around here and one thing we know we need to have ready is the car seat! We have an infant car seat that Charlotte used until she grew out of it. That will be the baby’s car seat and he will be coming home from the hospital in it!
As you can probably imagine, it no longer looks new and needs a good cleaning! I thought we would be able to just pop off the cover and throw it in the washer. After removing all the pieces I found the washing instructions that said I was wrong. Well, they didn’t say that exactly but it did say to hand wash/spot clean and hang to dry. The first thing that came to mind was to spray it out but I didn’t want to use a cleaner that may irritate baby’s skin! After some thought, I decided to try to make my own spray cleaner using The Laundry Tarts detergent! This is what we did:
I used a small 8 oz. spray bottle, added about a teaspoon or so of the laundry powder. Then I added HOT water to make sure I dissolved it thoroughly. Give it a few shakes and viola, Natural, sensitive skin safe, delicate fabric safe and earth friendly spray cleaner!

My “eyeball” measurement.
How to clean any non-machine washable fabric items (car seat covers, upholstery, pillows, furniture etc.)
- Use the cleaner we prepared to spray any spots or even the whole item.
- If needed, use a small scrub brush (we used a nail brush) to work any embedded grime out of the fabric.
- Rinse: We used the diaper sprayer over the bathtub to rinse off the soap. If you are cleaning upholstery or something that can’t make it to the tub you could use a second spray bottle with plain water.
- Hang dry or use a dry towel to blot water if cleaning something like car upholstery.

My overall impression is great! I have also used The Laundry Tarts on Charlotte’s cloth diapers and I really like how well they cleaned and the diapers were rinsed very easily! I also have to say that The Laundry Tarts recommend doing a strip of your diapers before switching to a new detergent! This is very important because there may be some residue from your old detergent in your diapers that may not be great when combined with a new detergent. I had no issues with Charlotte’s diapers!
One winner will get a sampler package of Laundry Tarts detergent! This giveaway will end 1/18 and is open to US/CAN. Use the Rafflecopter form to enter! Good Luck!
